Rising High School Junior At Summer Camp Gets Theft Charge Expunged

Dec 27 2015, by Michael Fienman in Case Results, Theft

One day while at a Pennsylvania summer camp, a 16-year-old girl from New Jersey was caught shoplifting and charged accordingly. The kids were on a trip to the King of Prussia Mall where the girl made off with about $50 in merchandise. With this daunting charge pending against her, the high school junior’s parents were understandably concerned. After much research and consultation, the parents hired Montgomery County criminal defense attorney Michael Fienman .

The student had no criminal history on her record but would be applying to college in the very near future. With the college application process about to begin, attorney Fienman understood the importance of keeping a shoplifting conviction off of her record. With the goal to keep her record unstained, Fienman successfully got the student into a diversionary program. Upon completion of 12 hours of community service, her charge was dismissed. Fienman subsequently succeeded in petitioning to have the matter expunged. She was not required to divulge any of the details of her shoplifting charge and her application process could continue without ramification despite her transgression.
