22-Year-Old Charged In Theft Ring Sees Several Felony Charges Withdrawn

Apr 29 2016, by Michael Fienman in Case Results, Criminal Defense, Fraud, Theft

When you are accused of a crime, it is important to find an attorney with extensive knowledge of the criminal court process to protect your rights. This experience recently aided a 22-year-old man, when he found himself charged with a litany of offences stemming from his involvement in an alleged theft ring. According to officers, the man acquired stolen credit card numbers and manufactured counterfeit credit cards in order to purchase merchandise that would later be returned for cash at stores with lax refund policies. As a result, he was charged with eleven theft and fraud-related felony offences such as access device fraud, theft by deception, receiving stolen property, forgery, possession of a counterfeit or altered access device, and dealing in proceeds of unlawful activities. With the seriousness of these felony charges, the young man knew he was facing considerable time in jail, and sought out Philadelphia criminal defense attorney Michael Fienman in his time of distress.

Attorney Fienman represented the young man during his preliminary hearing, which as he explained to his client was an opportunity to question the evidence against him. After the facts of the case were scrutinized and attorney Fienman negotiated with the officers involved, the most serious felony charges were withdrawn. Due to Fienman’s tactical representation at the preliminary hearing, the young man is now facing significantly reduced charges at trial, saving him from felony convictions and considerable jail time, an outstanding result given the circumstances of the case.

The outcome of an individual case depends on a variety of factors unique to that case. Case results do not guarantee or predict a similar result in any similar or future case.
