This weekend is sure to kick off to a fun-filled and energetic start, brimming with festivities from the annual Fireman’s Fair happening in Montco to the Ronald W. LaMar Scholarship Concert taking place in Bucks County. With an abundance of summer events and get-togethers happening this weekend, it’s easy to get swept into celebrations with neighbors, coworkers, friends or even family. The last thing you may plan on receiving is a DUI charge but be warned – patrol officers will be monitoring roads this weekend in Montgomery and Bucks County, conducting sobriety checks.

Sobriety checkpoints will be set at the following roads and state routes:

  • SR-9
  • SR-463
  • SR-63
  • SR-313
  • SR-113
  • SR-61
  • SR-202
  • SR-132
  • Doylestown Road
  • Upper State Road
  • County Line Road

In an initiative to reduce drunk-driving incidents, the Montgomery Township Regional DUI Enforcement Team, which serves townships in Montco and Bucks County, will be monitoring these checkpoints this Friday, June 12 through Sunday, June 14. When a patrol officer suspects a driver is incapable of safe driving, that driver will be pulled over and if he or she is suspected of drunk driving, that individual could be charged with a DUI.

What If I Receive a Montgomery County or Bucks County DUI Charge?

No one plans on getting a DUI. If it is your first time offense, you may be unprepared and wondering what your next steps should be.

Being arrested for a DUI or any other driving under the include charge is a serious matter. If it has happened to you, you may believe that being charged means you are automatically guilty, especially if you failed the breathalyzer test, chemical test, or other roadside field sobriety test.

This is not true.

Every DUI charge is distinct and the conditions or situation that led up the charge may vary. That is why it is important to have your specific case details reviewed by an experienced Pennsylvania DUI attorney.

Despite how grim the situation may appear, it will always in your interest to consult with a DUI attorney in your area who is well-versed in local laws. After reviewing your case, you may be provided with a defense strategy and a way to fight your DUI arrest charge.

If alcohol is consumed this weekend, it is never a good idea to get behind the wheel to drive, even if you think you are fine. Have some common sense and take preventative measures to help yourself or someone you know avoid a potentially life-altering DUI charge.
