Driving without an Ignition Interlock Reduced to Traffic Ticket

Aug 21 2019, by Michael Fienman in Case Results, Criminal Defense, DUI, Traffic Defense

Fienman Defense recently assisted a client in Montgomery County who was charged with driving without a mandatory ignition interlock device. As a condition of a previous DUI offense, this individual was legally required to install an ignition interlock. However, he was pulled over and charged before he had a chance to comply. As a misdemeanor, this violation severely complicated his DUI probation, exposing him to up to a year in jail and an additional 12-month license suspension. Attorney Fienman resolved the issue without a preliminary hearing by negotiating to have the offense amended to a non-moving traffic violation. As a simple traffic infraction, there were no points on his license and no additional consequences.

The outcome of an individual case depends on a variety of factors unique to that case. Case results do not guarantee or predict a similar result in any similar or future case.
