Drug Charges Reduced to Disorderly Conduct and Probation

Sep 30 2020, by Michael Fienman in Case Results, Disorderly Conduct, Drug Crimes

A young man driving in Delaware County was pulled over by Haverford Township police, who ultimately saw a rolled marijuana blunt in the center console. A search of the car also turned up rolling papers and a bottle full of pills in the passenger side door. He was arrested and charged with possession of controlled substances (for the pot and the pills) and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The young man claimed that he found the pill bottle on the street and picked it up to keep it from kids finding it. However, he was stopped before he could throw it away. The pills were sent to a lab and subsequently found not to be controlled substances after all. In the end, attorney Fienman successfully had the pill-related charge dismissed and negotiated the remaining possession charges down to simple disorderly conduct. Rather than a drug conviction, our client only had to serve a short term of probation.

The outcome of an individual case depends on a variety of factors unique to that case. Case results do not guarantee or predict a similar result in any similar or future case.
