A housewife who also is the caregiver for her elderly mother was cited for failure to stop at a red light. The light changed from yellow to red faster than she anticipated, and she ended up with a ticket.

She had only one prior traffic ticket on her record from more than three years ago. Pleading guilty or being convicted of failure to stop at a red light would have added three points to her driver’s license — a consequence she wanted to try to avoid if she could.

The housewife hired Philadelphia criminal attorney Michael Fienman to fight the ticket. When Fienman reviewed her case, he found there wasn’t enough evidence to meet the burden of proof for a conviction. He successfully negotiated a plea that included only a minimum fine and no points on the woman’s license.
