Last Thanksgiving, a college student from Aston, Pennsylvania was walking home from Barnaby’s. Since he had been drinking, he felt it would be a wise choice to walk home. However, when police officers saw him stumbling, he was pulled aside and given a ride home. Later, the young man was mailed a citation for public drunkenness and misconduct. In Pennsylvania, that is a summary offense generally punishable by a fine.

The young man was worried about how having an alcohol offense on his permanent record might affect him and his employment opportunities after graduating college.

He contacted Delaware County criminal defense lawyer Michael Fienman to help clear his name. Fienman successfully negotiated a plea agreement with the police officer who was reporting directly to the chief-of-police on the case. The Aston Township Police Department allowed Fienman’s client to complete hours of community service in exchange for dismissing his public drunkenness and misconduct charges, leaving the college student with an unstained record.
