Repeat Offender Avoids Jail Time for Multiple Drug Charges

Jun 10 2015, by Michael Fienman in Case Results, Drug Crimes

Pennsylvania criminal law firm Fienmen Defense recently helped a client charged with two misdemeanor counts of intentional possession of a controlled substance. The client was found with possession of heroin and crack cocaine. It was his third drug offense. He had been previously arrested in Philadelphia, then again in Bucks County.

It was under these circumstances that the client reached out to Fienman Defense. After speaking with attorney Michael Fienman, Fienman Defense was hired to represent him.

In Pennsylvania, penalties for drug possession vary depending on the type of drug and how much of it may have been found in possession. If convicted, the client could be facing jail time up to a year and fines up to $5,000. Fienman’s client was concerned about what would happen to him and how a criminal conviction would negatively impact his future.

Despite being a repeat drug offender, Michael succeeded in helping his client avoid jail time. Though the client was required to participate in the Accelerated Misdemeanor Program (AMP), there was no further penalty despite pleading guilty to both misdemeanor counts of intentional possession of a controlled substance.

The outcome of an individual case depends on a variety of factors unique to that case. Case results do not guarantee or predict a similar result in any similar or future case.
