Attorney Michael Fienman received a phone call from a previous client’s father asking for help with his own legal troubles.
The man recently had a background check for a job that revealed charges from July 1983. He was in college at the time, arrested for criminal mischief, receiving stolen property, and conspiracy. Even though the charges were resolved back in the 80’s, and he had long since learned from his mistakes, they remained on his record. The client was concerned about potential employers and his wife or children finding out.
Fienman took the initiative, leveraging recent changes in the law to get the old cases expunged. His client’s record was cleared so he could be worry-free for any future background check.
The outcome of an individual case depends on a variety of factors unique to that case. Case results do not guarantee or predict a similar result in any similar or future case.
