One of the winners from a past season of The Amazing Race sought out the legal help of Bucks County criminal defense attorney Michael Fienman after he was charged with criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and public drunkeness.

The 32-year-old man who lives in California was in town for a large family retirement dinner at an Italian restaurant in a lower Bucks County shopping center. Visibly intoxicated, our client left the gathering and walked to the nearby Retro Fitness. The man told the gym employees that he wanted to work out, and after a tour of the facility, was granted permission to exercise by the staff. At this time, our client began lifting weights and messing about in a loud and disruptive manner. He continued do sit ups with his legs hanging from the pull up bars and twice fell to the floor almost injuring his neck.

Now aware of the state the man was in, the Retro Fitness staff escorted him to the exit, but before exiting, the man managed to tackle a mannequin to the floor, causing it to break. The police were then summoned. On the way out, our client also flipped over a large cement trash can while screaming and carrying on.

The police arrived just in time to find him in the back seat of his car fumbling about with his hands concealed behind a jacket. Thinking he had a weapon, the police were moments short of shooting him. Fortunately, the man ultimately cooperated with the police but was charged with a number of disorderly persons offences.

Because the man is an aspiring actor, it was vital that he get a good result. Attorney Michael Fienman went to the hearing and represented his client with a strong defense and experienced guidance. Fienman diffused the situation by speaking with the cop, the gym owner, and judge. The situation was resolved after Fienman brokered a deal where it was agreed that the man pay all of the costs associated with the damage he caused, attend an alcohol awareness class, participate in a few hours of community service and write a letter of apology.

All charges were ultimately dismissed against Fienman’s client and he is eligible for future expungement. Because of Fienman’s vast experience with these charges and the local courts, the client was never required to appear in court. As such, Fienman was able to save his client a trip or two to Philadelphia and expensive airfare by successfully handling all of the issues involved.

The outcome of an individual case depends on a variety of factors unique to that case. Case results do not guarantee or predict a similar result in any similar or future case.
