Woman Avoids Misdemeanor Theft Conviction Through ARD

Sometimes a simple mistake can quickly spiral out of control with good people finding themselves on the wrong side of the law, facing very severe consequences. If this happens, you will need an experienced and dedicated criminal defense attorney to thoroughly evaluate your options and work with your best interests in mind.

For example, a woman was recently visiting a popular Pennsylvania water park when she was stopped in a gift shop with over $300 worth of merchandise concealed in a baby stroller. This obviously caused an embarrassing scene at the crowded park, where she was ultimately charged with misdemeanor retail theft. While theft charges are always significant, this woman’s situation and in turn the possible penalties were intensified because the value of the items was over $150. With a desire to protect her permanent criminal record, her reputation, and possibly her freedom, the woman reached out to Fienman Defense and skilled Pennsylvania criminal defense attorney Michael Fienman.

Attorney Fienman fervently worked with the prosecution and expedited a mutually agreeable outcome through the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition (ARD) program. This allowed the woman to serve 12 months of probation, complete 10 hours or community service, and pay roughly $1,300 in fines and costs to avoid a devastating theft conviction.

The outcome of an individual case depends on a variety of factors unique to that case. Case results do not guarantee or predict a similar result in any similar or future case.
