Public Drunkenness Charge For College Student Expunged

Mar 22 2016, by Michael Fienman in Alcohol, Case Results, Criminal Defense

A 28-year-old Ph.D student from University City was facing the consequences of a public drunkenness charge. Her primary care physician recently prescribed her a new anxiety medication and warned her of the dangerous side effects of drinking while on the prescription. However, she chose to imbibe two alcoholic beverages while out at a bar one night. With the prescription and alcohol clouding her judgment, the completely belligerent woman struck the bar owner after it was requested that she leave the establishment. Her wild and reckless behavior was entirely out of character. Facing the likely career obstacles if convicted of the public drunkenness charge, the student sought out the legal guidance of criminal defense attorneyMichael Fienman.

After successfully having his client admitted into a summary diversion program, the woman paid a $200 fine and attended a four-hour class; the public drunkenness charge was subsequently expunged from her record.

The outcome of an individual case depends on a variety of factors unique to that case. Case results do not guarantee or predict a similar result in any similar or future case.
