Various Fraud & Theft Charges Reduced at Preliminary Hearing

Jul 21 2017, by Michael Fienman in Case Results, Fraud, Theft

Philadelphia criminal defense attorney Michael Fiennman was recently hired to represent a woman during a preliminary hearing when several fraud-related offenses placed her future and freedom in jeopardy.

Allegedly, the woman was stopped at a big-box store after attempting to use another person’s credit card to purchase merchandise. This led to her being charged with eight separate counts of Access Device Fraud, conspiracy, theft, and identity theft. These various misdemeanors and felony level crimes are taken very seriously and it became clear that the prosecution was also considering additional charges that could drastically impact her life and lead to significant time behind bars.

To avoid the aftermath of these numerous fraud and theft-related offenses, the woman came to Fienman Defense, who tenaciously argued on her behalf. Attorney Michael Fienman negotiated with the prosecution and asserted that the evidence was insufficient to show that his client perpetrated theses alleged offenses that many times. By showing that the assorted charged were inappropriate, attorney Fienman successfully had the charges amended to a single offense. This greatly reduced her possible exposure and lessened the negative effect to her life.
