James A Byrne U.S. Federal Courthouse

The James A. Byrne United States Courthouse is Philadelphia’s federal courthouse.

This is the courthouse where the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania meets.

It is located in Center City, at 601 Market Street between N. 6th and N. 7th Streets, next to Independence Mall and adjacent to the William J. Green, Jr. Federal Building. The court’s phone number is (215) 697-7272.

The courthouse entrance is on Market Street. There is a parking lot close by at 8th Street and Arch Street.

The building is named after James A. Byrne, a former Congressman.

The Chief Judge for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania is the Honorable Petrese Tucker.
